More BB? Innoxa Skin Perfecting Foundation 5 in 1 BB cream review

Hi! Hope you are surviving the heat if you are in Australia! We have hit over 40 degrees C again today and boy it was HOT… *wipes sweat from brow*

I am currently in a room with no aircon and a small fan, as that’s where my PC is on which I edit my photos, so tonight’s post will be short!

Don’t miss out on the Personal Planner giveaway, which is open worldwide – you can find the link here and entries close very soon!

You know when you really really REALLY want to like a product, and have high hopes, and then, well, it’s just not for you? Unfortunately this is the experience that I have had with Innoxa’s Skin Perfecting Foundation 5 in 1 BB cream*. I was very keen to try it after my experiences with other makeup in their range (previous review here).

I have tried this product in “Buff”, which is a pale and neutral toned shade. (It appears a little warm when first applied then oxidises to neutral when on my skin.)

Why have I been disappointed? Let me explain:

  • I have been extremely happy with Innoxa’s Long Lasting Anti Ageing and Light Reflecting Foundation – so much so that I bought a new tube at Priceline on Monday! :D
  • As indicated in the images above, it promises so much! (Specifically, it is said to 1) Balance and correct skin tone, 2) Brighten skin, 3) Reduce pigmentation, 3) Calm and soothe skin, and 5) Reduce redness.)
  • The formulation is very thin and so does not hide my freckles or any imperfections. With or without concealer.
  • The formula was not buildable on my normal-combination skin (it’s not oily any more – woohoo!).

It was hard for me to evaluate the product claims (as outlined above) as I haven’t been able to use it on a regular basis, due to the coverage being too sheer. However, I am unsure about how well it would reduce redness given how sheer the coverage is.

*

Here are some swatches in first artificial light, then again in natural daylight, then zoomed in (natural daylight) to show how sheer it is on my skin:

I have covered the freckle that is at the top L of this picture. Unfortunately as you can see it remains very obvious. I realise that concealer could be applied but that can only do so much if a foundation or BB layer has little coverage, and sheer foundations/BBs can actually make the concealer look extremely obvious!

The 5 in 1 BB cream has an Aussie RRP of $24.95 and can be found at Priceline and all usual Innoxa stockists. Innoxa‘s official site is here.

Beautiful Rating 6/10: quality 3/5, value 3/5. Sorry Innoxa, this one is Average to me!

If you have no freckles, no pigmentation, and do not get occasional breakouts here and there, this may be OK for you, but otherwise this is best left to those who are fans of tinted moisturiser!

Has anyone else tried this BB cream? How did you go?

(It might just be me who is disappointed, as I have found a very positive review on Every Girl’s Answer!)

I found that most western bb creams are too sheer for me. My face has a lot of pigmentation so I like a bit of coverage.

Hi yeah I have noticed the same thing… I guess the trouble for me is that I was never into tinted moisturisers, so when something performs like one it isn’t my cup of tea!

Yeah, Western BB creams are a lie. u.u Lol. Just can’t get on board. It’s a shame.

Can I ask what magazine (if it is a magazine) you’re using as a bg?

Hi Bethany yeah it is a shame particularly with this brand because the foundation that I mention in the post (the Long Lasting one) is great! It is a magazine it’s “ageha”, I think!

It’s hard to stand out from the crowd of excellent and shoddy BB creams these days. It sounds like a very “meh” product…

Hi! It was such a shame, particularly given that I really like their Long Lasting foundation. It seems the BB concept has gotten lost in transition somehow!
