Hello everyone!
I hope you’re having a great weekend… I have scheduled this post for Sunday and I am likely to be at AVCon (as mentioned in my earlier post over here!). I’ll soon share with you how I achieved the makeup look I’ve worn to both days of the convention, but in the meantime, this is how I looked yesterday!

Hi!!!! I’m wearing a hat which is “Totoro”, a character from the famous animated movie “My Neighbour Totoro” – a great film for the young and young at heart!

Recently I have written about my discovery of kink cosmetics products… I have a feeling that (Australian supermarket giant) Coles is discontinuing this line as they marked down all kink products EVEN FURTHER this weekend (so yep get in quick people!), down to $1 AUD an item! This led me to pick up a few more nail polishes, but there were none left of this divine shade, Nearly Nude, which I picked up the week prior for $2 and will review now.
Here’s how it looks in natural style lighting:
And with flash (my hand looks a little motley, sorry about that – I get poor circulation in my hands and feet which means that this can be a particular problem for me in winter!):
Well, I am pleased to let you know that this polish lasts for a full four days, with a standard top coat (I use Essence gel look top coat reviewed here), and only minimal chipping (on the index fingers probably because I do a lot of typing). The colour is just so nice; it’s nude but a funky peachy nude.
There’s a slight gold shimmer through it which I love! I think it would make a good pedi colour too.
The polish is easy to remove with standard nail polish remover and doesn’t stain the nails.
I’ve been wearing another shade from the range, Femme Fatale, the past two days with NO top coat and guess what – NO chips! Huzzah! This colour is really pretty too with a lovely shimmer in bright light:
Beautiful rating 10+/10: quality 5/5, value 5+/5. Grab these babies while you can! (I’ve also picked up a bottle in Flamenco – red – and Cosmopolitan – a bright and pinky coral. Swatches to come on twitter, Facebook and/or instagram [search for username: abeautifulstory]!)
PS. If you are curious to see more about AVCon check out my instagram or twitter because I’ve been instagramming and tweeting throughout the weekend!

What is your fave nail polish brand? Have you tried kink cosmetics’ polish?

Ooh I’ve never seen this brand before! Might have to see if I can find any!
I was in town today and saw a lot of people walking around who had come from Avcon, are you from Adelaide?
Hi Elissa yeah have a look, it’s worth it for the polishes and lip glosses at least (they’re the only products I’ve tried from their range)!
Yes I am; that’s why I have been promoting the Adelaide Beauty Bloggers Meetup group etc in my post last week!
Both shades look awesome, you look adorable in your Totoro Hat!!

Hi Tina, thank you!
it’s rare to find a polish that is good quality and that cheap over here!
Another interesting review. Still waiting for any of my stores to discount Kink. Grr.
Not that fond of nudes, but ‘Nearly Nude’ is pretty gorgeous.
Jealous of AVCon goers. Was just too expensive for me this year. Next year. xD

Thanks Bethany.
Yes it can quickly become expensive (not just tickets but all the other bits n pieces). I try to save by getting early bird tickets, bringing some drinks with me (can of coke each day + water bottle – but I got hooked on the bubble tea this year lol!), and only buying merch that is discounted (unless it’s super awesome!). With merch this year I did well $8 earmuffs and $40 for 3 brand new imported (Jp) magazines.
